This extensive tutorial will guide the reader through the process of creating a new contract submission in PEER, and then submitting it to the VUMC Office of Contracts Management (OCM) for review.
Log Into PEER
First, we need to log into PEER. This tutorial assumes you have already found the PEER login screen via the OCM website or a bookmark in your web browser, and that you have previously logged into PEER and have a valid user profile. If this is your first time logging in, go back and read the "Logging In for the First Time" tutorial before beginning this process.
Log into PEER using your VUnetID and e-password. This is the same password you would use to access your email online or to log into your computer each day.
The Main Menu
After logging in, you will be brought to the home dashboard. The important areas of the menu with regard to this tutorial have been highlighted in above image. Note the Navigation Bar buttons for Home, My Profile [your name], and Help. Menu will always bring you back to this home screen. To update your PEER user information, click on your name in the menu bar. If at any time you need help with PEER, click on Help to access tutorials, this PEER Online Guide, or submit a help ticket if you encounter a technical problem.
The Contracts Menu
Next, click on "Contracts" in the top menu bar. In the drop-down menu that appears, notice two sections, left and right. The left section is for Contract Requests, which is what we are going to do in this tutorial. Contract requests are essentially "tickets" you submit to the contracts office requesting us to create/negotiate/sign/house an agreement for you. The right side, "contract management" provides limited access to the actual contracts database where central office does its work on the contracts you request. Every contract request, once it is approved, moves into Contract Management. Contract Management is where the ongoing lifecycle of the contract is managed.
Create new Contract Request
On the left side "Contract Request" menu, click "Create a Request".
Confirm creation of new contract request
The next screen is double purpose. In the background, you'll see a list of all contract requests for your departments, in various statuses. In the foreground is the contract request creation confirmation. For now, let's just close this box by clicking on the "Close button". We can get back to this box by clicking on the blue "new request" button on the background screen.
The Contract Submissions View
Now that we have closed the confirmation, you can see the list of your contract requests, including 1) status information, 2) the delete button (for requests in Draft status only), and 3) the create new request button. There are also buttons here for Help (which brings you to THIS tutorial), Exporting the list to Excel, and a status legend that explains what each of the request statuses mean.
Conclusion
That's all for Part 1 of the Contracts Submission tutorial. In Part 2 we'll create a new submission and begin to populate it with our contract data.
